Sunscreen Packaging: Tubes, Airless and Pump Formats

SPF formulas combine high oil loads, film formers and UV filters that can attack liners, gaskets and inks. They are also carried in bags and left in hot cars, so the pack must tolerate temperature swings without weeping at the closure.

Sunscreen Packaging formats for beauty brands

Short answer

Sunscreens are typically packed in 30ml–100ml tubes, airless bottles or pump bottles. Filter systems are chemically demanding, so component compatibility testing and a tight closure seal matter more than format aesthetics.

What decides the pack

Four variables account for most of the specification. Get these right and the rest is design.

Common formats

  • 50ml airless bottle
  • 50ml tube
  • 100ml pump bottle
  • 30ml travel airless

Filter compatibility

Chemical filters can soften some plastics and degrade gasket materials. Component compatibility trials are strongly recommended before committing volume.

Heat and pressure

Cars and beach bags mean high temperatures. Closures and liners are selected to hold under pressure and thermal cycling.

Dose visibility

Correct SPF application requires enough product. Clear dosing formats and printed guidance help consumers apply the tested amount.

Label durability

Water, sand and residual product abrade labels. Laminated stocks with a durable adhesive are the practical minimum.

Sunscreen Packaging FAQ

UV filters and the emollient systems that carry them can swell gaskets, soften certain resins and lift printed inks. A three-month accelerated stability run in the actual pack is standard practice before launch.

Yes, and they help with hygiene and dosing consistency. Confirm evacuation with your specific viscosity, as some mineral-filter formulas are thick enough to challenge a piston system.

It depends on the specification. Stock containers with labelling start low; custom colour, decoration and moulds raise the minimum. For custom paper boxes the standard minimum order quantity is 5,000 pieces per design, and selected paper box projects may start from a few hundred pieces subject to evaluation of the structure, material, printing method and finishing. Send the item and target quantity and we will quote the real minimum for that exact configuration rather than a generic figure.

Yes — standard samples, decoration samples and pre-production samples. Standard samples are usually available quickly; customised samples are quoted with the project because they require set-up.

Yes, through masterbatch resin colour, spray coating on glass or plastic, or printed colour on cartons. Coating gives full Pantone freedom at a lower minimum; masterbatch is more durable but needs a larger volume.
